José Formigli is a Senior Operating Partner and Technical Advisor at Fifth Ocean Group, with more than 40 years of experience in offshore oil and gas development, engineering, and operations.

Previously, José served as Chief of Exploration and Production at Petrobras, where he led the technical and project development of Brazil’s pre-salt as operator and oversaw the delivery of first commercial pre-salt production following discovery. Under his leadership, pre-salt production exceeded 3.0 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.

He is the Founder of Forsea Engenharia, an engineering consulting firm serving oil and gas clients globally, and has held multiple board and advisory roles across the industry.

José holds an engineering degree from Engineering Army Institute (IME) and an MBA from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Brazil. Distinguished Achievement Award of OTC 2025.
